11/29/08 10:50 AM-Black Friday Update 2… Now I hear 3 dead in shooting at a California Toys R Us.  Now that is crazy!   Read the CNN story here.

On a positive note, I haven’t heard anything like these extreme cases happening here in Iowa.   It sounds like my fellow Iowans did a good job of behaving themselves for the most part.  

Next year I think I’ll try camping out, just so I can say I’ve done that…   I did it for the Phantom Menace, why not for Black Friday- Canman

Alisabeth will be coming over sometime soon, so she can record some stuff for the show before she goes back to Chicago.  If you have something you would like Alisabeth to say on the show,  IE “one liners”…  Send it to me ASAP….   This could be really fun and I look forward to your suggestions.

I’m trying to save my paid time off for Christmas.   So this week I’m making up 8 hours over the next 3 days so I can have a 4 day weekend.   It’s going to be rough, but I can do it!   I’m sure I’m not the only person doing this too.   

My wife and I are starting to put our “Holiday Shopping Game Plan” together.   Because my children read my blog, I can’t post the shopping list here.    We’re having a delima on what exactly we want to do.   We do have a pretty decent budget this year, but not 100% sure what to get the kids.   We have some good ideas, but can always use help.   If you have any ideas, send them my way.

Kevin and I did record a “Thanksgiving Special” episode that we’ll be posting on Wednesday.   We’ll start back up with Episode 12 the first week of December.  

 I have been craving pumpkin pie.   I missed out on it yesterday at a pre-Thanksgiving dinner at my in-laws and was pretty disappointed.   So, to make up for it, last night  I went to the Hiawatha DQ specifically to get a pumpkin pie blizzard.   The drive there, I was even singing “Pumpkin pie… gonna have pumpkin pie!”.     I got to the DQ, placed my order and they guy at the other end of the “squawk box” said “I’m sorry we’re no longer serving those!!!”   I was crushed.   I choked up and didn’t quite know what to say.  Twice denied the pumpkin treat in the same day!    I pulled away, almost in tears…  I guess I have to wait till Thursday. :(  I suppose it was Karma’s way of saying “Dude, you really don’t need that, aren’t you trying to get healthy???”

I already own a 30 gig Zune. I’m running out of space on it and would love one of the newer models.

Gas Prices.  I was reading this article on Gazetteonline.com and it got me thinking.  Which is scary I know.  In the comments someone posted this map.      I find it very interesting that in Des Moines, the average gas price was $1.65 to $1.75 per gallon.   In Cedar Rapids the average gas price is $1.95 to $2.05 per gallon.   Why is it $0.75 cheaper in Des Moines?  Many people feel it’s price fixing.    Which wouldn’t surprise me… Anyone with some in site on this one, please send it my way.

Tonight at 7:00 pm is Java and Jazz  concert at Cedar Rapids Washington High School in their band room.  My son Zach plays trumpet in their “Jazz Also” band.     Tickets are $8.00 available at the door and they have cookies, cake and Java Oh My!   It promises to be a fun time!

Speaking of Zach, he’s looking forward to today’s DVD release of “Tropic Thunder“.   He gives it a high rating and says he “laughed his butt off”.   I did not look at his butt to confirm this,  however he stands behind that statement.

WALL-E (the potentially less offensive Disney movie) also comes out today.  Rob Merritt said earlier this year that “this is one of the best Disney movies ever released.”     If Rob said it, I believe it.
