Did you hear the BOOOOMS?????

Canman | February 28, 2009

Did you hear the BOOMS this morning?   I sure did.   Zoe, Kris and I decided to give The Canman Show’s New Olympus LS-10 Digital Audio Recorder a Christening.   We went to Mercy Medical Center where they were demolishing the Family Practice Center building, that was damaged in the flood of 2008.   I was going to save the audio clip for this weeks episode of the show, but decided to put it up anyway….To hear it click the LISTEN NOW Button in the side bar.   Or you can download the MP3 by Right Clicking HERE and selecting “SAVE AS”….

If you want to see it please check out the below video.   It comes from YouTube.  Be sure to check out Semper Vaproro’s other videos by clicking here.

In my Zune today, I’ve been flipping between Anouk and Kings of Leon.    I love Anouk’s song “Good God” and Kings of Leon’s “Sex on Fire”….   Two very different songs and artists, but both are lots of fun.

My weekend….

Driving home from work on Interstate 380 during Friday’s snow storm was a nightmare. The roads were horrible. I was traveling north bound when 3 cars ahead of me I could see a Semi Trailer starting to slide. The car immediately behind it slammed on it’s breaks, forcing the car in front of me into the shoulder. As I gripped the steering wheel with white knuckled fingers, I had no where to go but the median. I lucked out and ended up on on of those “U-Turn” sections of the median. There ended up being no damage. Other than psychological. YIKES.

[caption id="" align="alignleft" width="242" caption="Canman, Photo By Alisabeth"]Canman, Photo By Alisabeth[/caption]

After the nightmare, I did make it home safe and sound. After that Friday night was pretty un-eventful. Saturday I was up early shoveling snow and getting ready for my daughter Zada’s 3rd Birthday Party! We hired a “kinder music” teacher that came in and sang with the kids at the party. Zada loved it.

Sunday, Alisabeth came over and made my family feel like super models! She is an amazing photographer. It was an amazing experience having her in our home.  No pressure and just a fun time.   Too bad she’s going back to New York City this weekend! I hear she may be back in town mid April, So… If you like the photo’s you see here, BOOK HER NOW!.

Changes, They are a coming.

Canman | February 4, 2009

We’ve been getting some awesome feedback about the show and are taking it to heart.    I thought I’d share some of the stuff that we are  working on, that we hope will make The Canman Show even more entertaining to listen to.

Item 1.   Starting with Episode 21, we’ll be recording the show earlier in the week.    This is in an effort to get any time sensitive info out to you sooner.   (That and my work schedule changed and I start working late on Thursdays.)  We’re not set on which day of the week it will be, but I guarantee it will be earlier in the week.

Item 2.    Starting with Episode 20, we’ll be mixing up the music more.   Lately we’ve been in a rut.  Totally my fault!  I’ve been playing the same 5 songs almost every episode.   One way we’re doing this is by putting focus on local talent.    We’re hoping to showcase a different  band, or performer from around the area on every episode.    If you have some original recorded material you would like us to consider playing on the show, please send us an e-mail to thecanmanshow@gmail.com.      Please include your name, phone number and a link to where we can listen to your stuff.   We’ll get in touch with you ASAP.

Item 3.      We’d love to showcase your Restaurant, Bar, Theatre, Business or Event on an upcoming episode of The Canman Show, by recording the show live from your location.   For example, We’ll be recording live from the SaPaDaPaSo, St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Downtown Cedar Rapids on March 17th.   If you would like to have record at your Event, please contact Chad (AKA Canman) for more information by sending an e-mail to thecanmanshow@gmail.com

Thank you again to everyone who has filled out our survey!   If you haven’t taken it yet, and would still like to fill it out, you can do so by clicking here.

If you don’t have time to fill out the survey, please don’t hesitate to drop me a line thecanmanshow@gmail.com

Have a great day- Canman

Stuff on my Mind Today 02/02/2009

Canman | February 2, 2009

I’m not much of a sports fan, never really have been.   I think it goes back to when my older Brother T.J. would use football or any other sport, as an excuse to beat the crap out of me.   But that’s a whole different story.

Somehow I end up watching the Super bowl every year.   I  I used to watch “just for the commercials” but,  over the past few years I think I’m developing a small appreciation for the game itself.    What a fun game last night.  Especially in the 4th Quarter.

For a moment there I though Kurt Warner and the Arizona Cardinals had it made… Then there was that catch by the Steelers.    While I was hoping the Card’s would win, I have to admit that catch was amazing.

On top of the game itself, we were treated to a pretty awesome look at this years upcoming movies.    I want to save some of this discussion for this weeks show, but I wanted to give my impression on a couple of the Movie Trailers that were broadcast.

First was ”Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen”.   I wasn’t really blown away by the teaser.   The only thing I saw in it that made me the slightest bit excited was what appears to be a glimpse of ”Ravage”.   If you grew up in the 80′s, and had the Soundwave Transformer, AKA the Boom Box.    Ravage was one of the Cassette Tapes that transformed into a panther like cat.   That was the very first Transformer I ever owned, and still one of my fav’s.       I sure hope the next trailer has more substance to it…  If you recall, when the first Transformer’s movie was released, that Trailer didn’t really show anything….  So there’s hope.

A few episodes back we mentioned Will Ferrell’s ”Land of the Lost” movie.   I have to say, not bad.   One of the things I really enjoyed about the TV show, was just how bad and cheaply made everything looked.   After letting the trailer sink in, I almost wonder if it is “Too well done”.    Then again… Maybe not.

“Year One”- This one almost looks like a remake of Terry Gilliam’s Time Bandits.    Only with ”Stoners” instead of “Little People”… Looks funny.

My favorite trailer was the 3D “Monster’s VS. Aliens”.   While I honestly am not too impressed with the over all look of the film, the story sounds fun and the voice talent should be great.    I’m a sucker for 3D on TV.   Even though for the most part, it really hasn’t been done well over broadcast TV.   I must say it looked pretty good.

Tonight I’m really looking forward to the return of “Chuck” on NBC… Not only is the series starting back up, but It’ll be broadcast in 3D!!!    I love that show.-  Canman
