Stuff on my mind today 11/12/08

[caption id="" align="alignright" width="250" caption="Janelle Lauer's NEW CD!"]Janelle Lauers NEW CD![/caption]

It’s no secret that I pre-record my interviews for The Canman Show.   Last night I had the pleasure of interviewing Janelle Lauerabout her new CD “Change” and her upcoming CD release party.    This CD is very R&B with a rock slant.   Very nice!  It’s rocking my Zune Today!.    Be sure to pick it up when you get a chance and hear a special sneak peak of it on Episode 10!!!    I’ll post more information on her show in Episode 10’s show notes (coming Late Thursday Night or Friday Afternoon).

Hellboy 2 “The Golden Army” came out yesterday on DVD.   I’m going to have to buy this one!    I’m a huge Hellboy fan.   I have been ever since Kevin turned me on to Mike Mignolia’s art full and creative comic book and novels.  Hellboy’s been described as X-files meets an X-file.    Full of humor and very intelligently written.    Be sure to pick up any and all Hellboy comics you can.   They rock!  (pardon the pun)

Getting Healthy Day 10:  10 days no soda pop or caffeine.   I did go a little hog wild yesterday at lunch and over ate a little.   We went to Pizza Ranch in North Liberty.   It’s pretty good, but the food can’t be good for you.   I made up for it by eating a sensible supper.   Still working on getting exercise.   We walked around Sam’s club last night.   That was fun.   They’re gearing up for the holidays and had all the cool toys out.

Speaking of Toys.  On my excursion to Sam’s they had one of those “Kota” animatronic Triceratops dinosaurs on display.   It was out for people to play with….   I fell in love with it.   It’s so life like, you can even feed it fake leaves and when you tickle his chin, he has a funny reaction. It’ll be on the top of my.. err my daughter’s Christmas list this year.

Xbox Update:Today the box came to ship my dead Xbox-360 back to Microsoft.   We immediately packed it up when I got home from work and ran it to UPS.    Now I’m crossing my fingers that we get it back before Christmas- Canman

Get out to vote today! I haven’t voted yet, but will after work tonight.   Several of my co-workers have already been to the polls and are sporting their fancy “I’ve voted” stickers.   I must say the design for  years “I voted” sticker is pretty sweet!  I can’t wait to get mine!

Day 2 on my commitment to getting healthy.   Yesterday was rough.   I got to work and they had stocked the kitchen with snacks.  Murphy’s law could have predicted that I guess?  I did break down and have a few Oreos yesterday…  No sense in beating myself up over it.   I’ll do better today.

Theatre:I’m going to be running the lights and sound for ACT1’s production of “The Cay” at The Palace Theatre in Vinton.    I did some voice over work with Tony John, Dennis & Debbie Green for the show.   The cast includes my pal Doug Jackson and Jack Green.  Show times are Sat, Nov. 15 at 7PM and Sun, Nov. 16 at 2PM.

Xbox: I still haven’t gotten the box for my dead  X-Box…   I’m going to have to call them today.

On My Zune: I’m currently listening to The Beatles “Love Album”.   I highly recommend picking it up.

Yeah Capitalism! Just in time for Christmas…

This month starts the kick off for items being released and prices being dropped “just in time for Christmas.”   All the summer blockbusters, the anticipated video games, the price drops seem to happen this time of year.   Here are some that I’m looking forward to.

Microsoft has announced that they are dropping their X-Box 360 console prices by $50.00 across the board.   So for $199.00, you’ll be able to pick up their bare bones “Arcade” model for less than the price of the WII ($249.00).   I personally would not pick up the Arcade Model as it does not include the hard drive which significantly reduces the functionality of the device.   I do recommend spending the extra cash ($299.00 to $349.00) on the “Pro” model.   It has everything you need to appreciate the functionality of the device.

To go with the X-Box 360 there are quite a few games being released.   On the list of games that I would like to get are:

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed- This game looks pretty awesome.   I’ve played the demo and enjoyed it.  I’ll be picking it up when it’s released on September 16th.

Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour-  In my opinion these are pretty much the same game.   These are the games getting credit for “saving the music industry”.  I enjoy both franchises but to me the subtle differences in the games are not enough to distinguish one franchise from the other.    I’m looking forward to seeing the improvements in the Rock Band drum peripheral and the differences in Guitar Hero’s version.    I’m sure I’ll be satisfied either way.    According to Amazon.com Guitar Hero World Tour Band Kitfor the Xbox 360 will be availible on October 26th 2008 and will retail for $189.99.   Amazon.com has two different release dated posted for Rock Band 2 for XBOX 360, Game only  $59.99 released on September 14th and Special Edition (with the instruments) $189.99 released on October 19th 2008.

I am a movie lover and am looking forward to picking up quite a few of this season’s biggest movies.   Below is a list of the release dates to the movies I’m adding to my collection.

Iron Man– September 30th

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls– October 14th

The Incredible Hulk-October 21st

Wall-E– November 18th

Horton Hears a Who– December 9th

Batman: The Dark Knight – not confirmed, December 9th

 Have a great day- Canman
