I first want to say a HUGE thank you to all of our listeners!   As of  this morning, The Canman Show has been downloaded over TWO THOUSAND TIMES!   I’m doing the “Happy Dance”!!!   Thank you for listening.   We really appreciate it!

If you haven’t done so already, please take a moment and take The Canman Show Survey.   We have a Short Version and a slightly Longer Version.    The results of the survey will give us some direction on how to make the show better.

The Oscars were fun to watch this year.  I’m sure they will come up in tomorrow night’s show.    I believe all the guys will be on deck (Kevin, Tim, Jamie… and maybe Chuck) with me.    Should be a fun episode.

In my Zune today, I’ve been flipping between Anouk and Kings of Leon.    I love Anouk’s song “Good God” and Kings of Leon’s “Sex on Fire”….   Two very different songs and artists, but both are lots of fun.

My weekend….

Driving home from work on Interstate 380 during Friday’s snow storm was a nightmare. The roads were horrible. I was traveling north bound when 3 cars ahead of me I could see a Semi Trailer starting to slide. The car immediately behind it slammed on it’s breaks, forcing the car in front of me into the shoulder. As I gripped the steering wheel with white knuckled fingers, I had no where to go but the median. I lucked out and ended up on on of those “U-Turn” sections of the median. There ended up being no damage. Other than psychological. YIKES.

After the nightmare, I did make it home safe and sound. After that Friday night was pretty un-eventful. Saturday I was up early shoveling snow and getting ready for my daughter Zada’s 3rd Birthday Party! We hired a “kinder music” teacher that came in and sang with the kids at the party. Zada loved it.

Sunday, Alisabeth came over and made my family feel like super models! She is an amazing photographer. It was an amazing experience having her in our home.  No pressure and just a fun time.   Too bad she’s going back to New York City this weekend! I hear she may be back in town mid April, So… If you like the photo’s you see here, BOOK HER NOW!.

Stuff on my Mind Today 02/02/2009

I’m not much of a sports fan, never really have been.   I think it goes back to when my older Brother T.J. would use football or any other sport, as an excuse to beat the crap out of me.   But that’s a whole different story.

Somehow I end up watching the Super bowl every year.   I  I used to watch “just for the commercials” but,  over the past few years I think I’m developing a small appreciation for the game itself.    What a fun game last night.  Especially in the 4th Quarter.

For a moment there I though Kurt Warner and the Arizona Cardinals had it made… Then there was that catch by the Steelers.    While I was hoping the Card’s would win, I have to admit that catch was amazing.

On top of the game itself, we were treated to a pretty awesome look at this years upcoming movies.    I want to save some of this discussion for this weeks show, but I wanted to give my impression on a couple of the Movie Trailers that were broadcast.

First was “Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen”.   I wasn’t really blown away by the teaser.   The only thing I saw in it that made me the slightest bit excited was what appears to be a glimpse of “Ravage”.   If you grew up in the 80’s, and had the Soundwave Transformer, AKA the Boom Box.    Ravage was one of the Cassette Tapes that transformed into a panther like cat.   That was the very first Transformer I ever owned, and still one of my fav’s.       I sure hope the next trailer has more substance to it…  If you recall, when the first Transformer’s movie was released, that Trailer didn’t really show anything….  So there’s hope.

A few episodes back we mentioned Will Ferrell’s “Land of the Lost” movie.   I have to say, not bad.   One of the things I really enjoyed about the TV show, was just how bad and cheaply made everything looked.   After letting the trailer sink in, I almost wonder if it is “Too well done”.    Then again… Maybe not.

“Year One”- This one almost looks like a remake of Terry Gilliam’s Time Bandits.    Only with “Stoners” instead of “Little People”… Looks funny.

My favorite trailer was the 3D “Monster’s VS. Aliens”.   While I honestly am not too impressed with the over all look of the film, the story sounds fun and the voice talent should be great.    I’m a sucker for 3D on TV.   Even though for the most part, it really hasn’t been done well over broadcast TV.   I must say it looked pretty good.

Tonight I’m really looking forward to the return of “Chuck” on NBC… Not only is the series starting back up, but It’ll be broadcast in 3D!!!    I love that show.-  Canman

[caption id="" align="alignright" width="362" caption="Greatest wife in the world"]Greatest wife in the world[/caption]

This week my wife is going to Phoenix, AZ to visit family with her Mom.    What frightens me is that she will be leaving me home alone with our 3 children.  I hope she has fun and already I’m realizing just how much slack I’m going to have to pick up while She’s gone.   Kris is a great wife/mom.  She does an awful lot for us and I truly appreciate it… I’m hoping that after this weekend, our kids will learn to appreciate it too!

With Kris going out of town this week, we decided to skip my employer’s Holiday party, this past Saturday night and spend some “Us” time together.    I was able to take her out on a “Hot Date” (AKA Dinner and a movie, children overnight with the Grandparents) instead.

The evening started at Ruby Tuesday’s.  The food was great and our server did a fantastic job.

We had some time to kill before our movie so we decided to do a little window shopping.   We ended up at Sam’s club where  we were priced new tires for the “Canman Mobile”.  Then we decided “what’s a trip to Sam’s Club without hopping over to Wally World?”.

Wal-Mart to me, is like going to a museum.   You never know what  you’re going to see, or in this case over hear.    The Wal-Mart quote of the evening came when a pair of twenty something female Racing/WWE fans (I knew they must have been fans as one had on a WWE shirt the other a NASCAR coat)  They were walking down the Aisle gabbing when one answered her cell phone.    Excitedly I heard the one say into the phone “We’re not drunk, we’re just at Wal-Mart”….   That quote speaks to me on so many levels…

Anyway…Back to the hot date.    At the theatre, we took in “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button“.   It reminded me of a cross between, “Forest Gump”, “When Harry Met Sally”, “Titanic”, “The Notebook” and “Big Fish”.     Einstein said “Time is relative” this movie proved it.    The 3 hour movie hardly felt that long.   In fact, I didn’t want it to end.   It was awesome!   Go see it in the theatre while you still can!

First I want to send out a big Happy Birthday to my parents.   My Mom’s birthday was Sunday 01/04 and my Dad’s is Wednesday 01/07.  Happy Birthday Mom and Dad!

Tim’s CD “In Decay” is finally out!   Be sure to download yours today!  It’s available thru Amazon by clicking the below link or by clicking the Amazon MP3 wigit to the right.    It rocks!!!

I’m cooking up a little contest for this weeks Episode of The Canman Show. It’ll be lots of fun! Be sure to listen to Episode 16 on Friday for more details.

I’m looking forward to watching the season premier of Ghost Hunters International, Wednesday night on Sci-Fi!   When the other shows are in re-runs or in the early winter “hiatus”, it’s nice to have some fresh TV to watch.    That, and I get my Ghost Hunters fix (even if it’s not with Jason, Grant and Steve).

That’s all I got for now- Canman

Stuff on my mind today 11/10/08

I had an awesome weekend.   I spent some quality time with the kids watching movies.   We watched Kung Fu Panda,  Elf and The Santa Clause.    I guess I was in the mood for Christmas movies (snow does that to me).     Zoe and I got up early today and had breakfast together.   That was awesome!

I read Gazetteonline.com daily.   I enjoy all the articles and it helps me keep up on what’s going on in my area of the world.    Lately I’ve been a little bummed about the comments being left on the site.   They seem to have developed a “Forum Troll” problem.    I don’t mind constructive criticism.  Especially when someone who posts it with their “Real” name.

The issue I have comes from people who post nothing but negative, hateful, comments stuff like  “This is the stupidest article I’ve ever read, the person who wrote it should be fired”.  Then they sign the article with a pseudonym.   They don’t have the guts to post it under their real name.    It’s easy to spread hate and negativity when no one knows who you are.

I’ll get off my soap box after I remind you what my Grandma taught me,  “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”.    She also taught me “if I feel strongly enough to say something negative about a subject, don’t just complain about it,  suggest something to make it better … and don’t be a chicken… Sign your name to it…. ”

Update 11/10/08 12:50 pm.   I had to laugh when reading the comments from this story.   The comment from Ann Onamouse 11/10/08 08:55:00 AM cracked me up!   So I guess some comments where people don’t use their real name are o.k….  LOL.  Check it out…

Getting Healthy Day 7.   It’s been 1 full week with no soda-pop.   It’s been 5 days and no sweets.    I’m starting to get full when I eat!   Last night I could only eat 2 pieces of pizza before I felt full!     That’s a pretty awesome feeling!   I could do a better job of getting some exercise.   I’ll work on that this week.

On my Zune.  I’m listening to the Album Lenka, by Lenka.   What a fun CD.   Her voice reminds me a little of Regina Spektor.   I love it!   The whole album is worth the buy.   My favorite song on the album is “The Show”.   Check it out!

On a positive note..  Thanksgiving is 17 days away!   Gobble Gobble- Canman.

Stuff on my mind today 11/03/08

My health.   I’ve noticed, as many of my friends and family have that I’m getting pretty fat.    I’ve always been a little heavy, but now it’s getting pretty bad.    Honestly it’s starting to frighten me.   Starting right now, I’m making the commitment to get healthy.    I’m not going on a diet.   I’m just going to start to eat smarter.    I’m going to cut out the crap in my diet.   I’m going to eat in moderation and more frequently.   I’m even going to get off my butt and get some exercise every day.

Please support me in this endeavor.   I’ll be posting regular updates and plan to discuss this on upcoming episodes of The Canman Show.

If you want to join me in this effort, drop me a line thecanmanshow@gmail.com

I love you all and hope to be here a lot longer- Canman
